Research into Camera Angles and Techniques

Above are examples of different   camera shot techniques  that we could include in our music video. As a group we are planing on  incorporating a lot of close up  and reaction shots so that the audience can empathise with the protagonists unhappiness. The research  above is going  to inspire my group and I to use a variety of shots in order to take our music video appear interesting.

Suicide scene:

Before the girl goes into the bath the camera zooms into the tap that is seen running.

You see the girls foot placed into the bath first before you see the girls face.Close up of foot creates suspense.

See the girl lowering herself into the bath medium long shot see the back of her.

I thought this was a really powerful shot and this enables the  actress to connect with the audience emotionally because she is looking directly into the camera.Medium close up of girl looking into the camera suggesting she is about to kill herself, she has given up upset deeply frustrated.

Medium eye level shot of girl about to drown. The girl is looking directly at the camera connecting and capturing the audience.

High angle shot of girl see the girl crying while sinking into the bath.

Girl is placing her head beneath the water.A medium close up is used which invites the audience to witness the characters demise.
Bubbling coming from the water audience knows she is dead.Music could potentially stop playing at this point and the camera could lose focus as seen in the shot above.

High angle mid close up of girls face camera zooms the camera in a sense is hinting to the audience that they must not intrude on the character any more.

High street scene:

The character is talking to someone begging on the streets we can see her mouth move but we can not hear the dialogue this is a clever technique that we could use selective focus is used where the background is blurred but the image of the girl in the foreground is focused.

Selective focus close medium close up so that the audience can identify with the characters anxiety.

Smokes into the camera so that the smoke fills the screen close up camera zooms into charters face tears perhaps streaming down her face.

Bathroom Scene:

Mid long sot of the girl in the bathroom looking in the mirror,so the camera angle gives the effect that the audience can look but they are not initially invited inside so it gives the effect that the audience are intruding on the girls privacy.
Dolly shot camera moves into the room camera zooms on the girls back s the audience follow the movement of the camera indicates in a sense that the character has invited them in.

Camera movement then zooms in further into a over the shoulder shot so the audience is approaching the character to comfort her.

Blurred mid close up of the girl putting on makeup for male company.
Bedroom scene:
Select focus on the main character in the shot of  the character of the male customer is blurred out.

Select focus used once again close up so the audience can see the emotion that the actress is trying to convey.

Park scene:

Mid close up the girls face is looking into the camera and then you can see the park in the background.

Mid Long shot used of girl sitting on a wall for park scene.

Mid long shot of gril on the park bench match shots sued below which shows different angles of the girl still on the bench
Mid clsoe up of girl on the bench from the back.
Mid clsoe up as pans movement is used so you get a closer perspective of the girl on the bench.
Mid close of girl exploring in the trees as if she is seeking happiness and freedom.
Low angle of girl exploring trees so the viewpoint of the camera is as if the auidence are looking up at her.
This shot my group and are considering to do as a 360 degree angle so that we can capture the full perspective of the character  in this shot she is smiling and seeking joy in something that may be considered to be in significant  in some-ones  everyday life sunlight she is determined to be happy she is seeking joy.

Preperation and Development towards Filming music video- Focus Camera Angles

Attemtping over the shoulder shot  so the audience will be able to see the same viewpoint as the actress gets the audience involved as if they are there.
Actor holding the camera herslef in order to attemtpt to get a more distinct and eclearer picturer from the overhead shot.
Low angle over the head shot, vary and experiment with over the shoulder shots.
Practicisng 360 degree angle camera shot

Mid long distant sequnce to be potentially used in the 360 degree sequnce.

Gentle slow motions were made in attempt to capture the 360degree angle.
Suggestions for improvement:someone is lighted while filmin so that we can capture a high angle as part of the 360 degree sequence or perphaps filming is taking place while in a shopping trolley so that we are abel to get a cleare more fluid image.

Experimenting with matched cut practicisng close up shot at different angles varying the shot of girl walking a camera technique that is to be potentially used when she is waling in the highstreet.

Practicising mid long shot to be potentially used in the park bench scene various shots used to make scne interesting.

High angle shot used so that we can see the girl on the becnh at differnet angles.

Mid close up slight high angel used.
Practciisng mirror shot

Practise shots to be used for bathroom mirror scene below:
Sots taken over the shoulder slighting camera directly facing mirror.

Zoomed in camera angle where the  camera captures actresses reflection.

Right handed high angel so the cmaera is slightlty eleveated offf the ground and is bale to capture the actresses anxitey in an interetsing shot.

Slight high angle used  camera zoomed in and focused on the actresses face because that is how the audience is able to see that the actresses character is upset and hurt.

Mind map of ideas

Using this form of Web 2.0 (popplet), allowed my group to work effectively as a group whilst making the process easier as it allowed multiple devices to connect to the same popplet. Therefore, we had access to the same research, and could effectively add and share our own ideas to the popplet- collaborating our ideas.

Designated Roles

Planning a regular  schedule.

The group discussing ideas.
Organising and planning.
Agreeing on roles.

Assigning roles.

Designing the ancillary task:Lalita and Zainab
Editing the Final draft of the music video:Janet and Niamh

Below is a video that shows our discussion as a group:

Creating the storyline, the storyboard and Timeline.

Creating the storyboard.
Sharing ideas as a group.

Drawing the storyboard.
Discussing ideas.
Creating a storyline that are appropriate for the  lyrics of the song.
Adjusting the timeline and making it more precise.
Finalising  the storyline along with the lyrics of the song.
Finishing the storyboard.

Initial Brain storming of ideas!!!!!!!!

As a group we brainstormed our ideas using microsoft  powerpoint and presented theses ideas in front of the class. This was a group effort and was just a chance for us to come up with some intial ideas in which we develop ouur way of thinking, it was somthehing we could base our music video  on so that our ideas could grow and develop!!!!! A link of Ed Sheerans Ateam is linked below this is the music video in which we initially drew inspiration: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAWcs5H-qgQ
